We are officially a tax-exempt nonprofit organization under the IRS code 501(c)(3), and the awesome thing about our declaration is that it is retroactive as of November 2013 when we were incorporated!
This is one of those milestones for JH Safe Haven, because we can now apply for grants that we qualified for as an organization, but couldn't get because we needed this status.
Our goal is to make sure Joshua Home is open this year 2014. We are currently running an ongoing fundraiser to Open the Home at www.gofundme.com/Open-Joshua-Home-2014 or click on the Donate button to give securely via Paypal.
On the Gofundme page you will find our Wish list of what is needed to open the home and maintain it until we are fully funded by the county and or other agencies.
Spread the word about the growing epidemic of homeless LGBT+ youth in America, and share Joshua Home's mission, to End LGBTQ Youth Homelessness with everyone you know or meet. We also need in-kind donations, check with your company or associations, they may want to help too! And of course give your best gift today!
#ShareGiveCare #TeamJoshuaHome POST to your Social Networks and on your pages.
Together We Will make a difference in the lives of these children.

As this year quickly comes to an end, most people begin to reflect on the months past, the opportunities lost, the moments missed and the goals unfulfilled.
For some, those thoughts are nowhere near their minds. They are thinking about the weather changes, what organization is giving out food today, if they can find a place to sleep just for tonight and whether they will be safe.
Unfortunately, a large number of these thoughts are in the minds of homeless Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Children. I've heard horror stories about children as young as eight years old being thrown out of their homes because they "came out" to their families. These are the people who held them when they were babies, tended to them when they were sick, played with them during those special times and loved them...unconditionally. Until the child said, 'I'm Gay." Then most often embarrassment causes abuse and ridicule to spiral out of control. Unless the child takes back the statement, they are removed from their home.
These are the children Joshua Home: An LGBTQ Safe Haven was created to rescue. Yes, rescue from unforgiving homes, unsafe shelters, unfriendly streets and from the uncaring foster care system. We are forging the charge to End LGBTQ Youth Homelessness in America, starting here in the Inland Empire of Southern California. We know they are out there waiting for someone to tell them, "You are special, accepted and loved", we need you to help us get that message of hope to them.
I've always been a loner, doing things by myself so that the only opposition I would encounter would be from me. Well, you know that didn't work, there were still opposing forces that came at me. I tell you that because, when I was given the awesome directive to serve these children, I knew right away that I would not be able to do it alone. I would need people working arm in arm with me to get this done. Because, it is not a "My" mission but an "Our" obligation.
This Holiday Season please set aside some monetary cheer for JH Safe Haven. We need about $75,000 in order to secure the Tax Exempt declaration, licensing, permits, house, insurance and bonding, furnishings, supplies, transportation and of course the three months of operating expenses (includes staff salaries) that have to be in the bank when the applications are reviewed. If you can't do a monetary gift, we are having a Silent Auction during our Introduction Event (I would love to meet you there) and In-Kind gifts ($50 value or more) are needed as well.
Joshua Home: An LGBTQ Safe Haven is a California Non-Profit Corporation (number pending) and your gift will be deductible.
Contact us with any questions or for more information at 1-877-726-4274 option 2, or email me at [email protected] today.
Have a safe and happy Holiday Season full of laughter and love.

I am excited about the opening of the first JH Safe Haven early 2014!
Our fundraising campaign is off and running. Because it's my first time heading a fundraiser of this magnitude I am using Google for almost every step lol. Learning from those who only needed money for a specific cause to those who raise funds year round. I'll be an expert soon.
Mixed with my excitement is sadness. I'm sad because there are kids outside right now, somebody was kicked out of there home this week because they were honest about who they are. Sad because so many of these kids feel as if nobody cares, they feel worthless, dirty and bad. They need help...
There is hope! There are organizations and people all over this nation rallying together to make a change for these young people.
I am proud along with our Board of Directors to be among this group of Champions. Joshua Home: An LGBTQ Safe Haven will stand as a symbol of the power we have when we join together for good. Our future will be brighter because the youth at JH Safe Haven will be confident, proud, educated and productive adults, contributing positively to our society.
There are so many things I want to talk about (soapbox moment), so many issues, but I will hold back till next time. You will see more of me here as we get closer to our Launch Event (yes we are planning that already). I do want to ask you to find a place you feel you can help and do that. Spreading the word about Joshua Home, about the fundraiser, about what we are doing is huge! The more people who hear and know about JH Safe Haven, the more help we will get; and the more help we get the sooner we can open that door. So tell everyone!

Have you ever known something was the right thing, but everything around you seemed to scream, "It can't be done!"?
Well I have, and this is one of those times and one of those things. I am in no way complaining, just sharing. The powers that be have put up almost every road block possible to keep Joshua Home from becoming a reality. It's as if there are forces behind the people that want this group of youth to continue to fall through the cracks with no way out. It seems the system wants to keep them from becoming healthy, happy, contributing members of society.
With that said; I will not give up on these helpless children!
I will attend every meeting, get the necessary training, fill out the books of paperwork, sit before the committees, jump through the hoops and raise the capital needed to make Joshua Home: An LGBTQ Safe Haven not only a reality but a growing success!
I need you to join with me as a champion for these worthy and wonderful young people by helping to raise the $75,000 it will cost to open the first home. This amount will cover all the fees associated with the non-profit federal declaration, state licensing, county licensing, city licensing and permit fees, insurance, training, certification, staffing, three months of lease payments, utilities, furnishings, appliances, supplies, a van and more.
Give from your heart today and I will personally invite you to come see what your generous gift has done in the lives of the LGBTQ Youth needing a permanent home in San Bernardino and surrounding counties.
Thank You for not giving up on the many LGBTQ Homeless Youth who believe no one cares!
*Back to the title, never let people or circumstances stop you from fulfilling your purpose in your life. You have been equipped to do something extraordinary and even though it may seem small to you, it will impact the lives of many people for years to come.
Your journey may sometimes seem dark, hard or impossible, but if you keep your goal in mind and visualize your end result, your joy will remain full. This joy activates your faith in your God-given ability as well as in your dream.
A dream fueled by passion, joy and faith will surely become a reality.
See you soon,

As the proud mother of two of the most awesome young men I know, who are openly gay; my heart breaks for the young men and women whose families have ostracized them and it aches for the families who will miss out on the opportunities to see these young people change the world!
It's sad to know that in our homes loving, caring, protecting parents/guardians will turn their backs on their own children for being who they are. Usually rooted in some religious belief system, these adults are so far removed from the unconditional love of God, that they treat the gifts He gave them worse than strangers.
As a minister, I fully understand why they think, feel and believe the way they do, however, I do not understand the actions they take. In most cases, if the child is allowed to stay, it is with much emotional, mental and sometimes physical abuse. Beating them over the head with the Bible and their beliefs. Never sharing the love, forgiveness and grace of God, they themselves rely on.
God gave me a Divine Directive. He said, "I am losing an entire generation of My Children because of the unfounded beliefs of their families. They are staying away from Me, because to them, these people represent Me. Your job is to gather My LGBTQ Children and bring them home. Don't preach to them, praise them; don't lecture them, love them; don't shun them, shelter them; don't discard them, develop them into the men and women they were created to be."
I am grateful to have been given this awesome opportunity! Thank You Lord, and thanks to all of you who will help me carry out this Divine Directive and bring these children home.
